What is Wheel alignment?
Vehicles are manufactured to very tight and precise calibrations, but over time, one of the thousands of auto parts can become misaligned or worn out. Wheel alignment is the practice of fixing this issue as it relates to the wheel, and bringing these components back to those in the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. For instance, there are moving components that relate to the alignment of the wheel set on rubber mountings, and attacked to the car bodywork - it is very easy for these to move slightly out of place and for this to affect the wheel significantly.
When wheels become misaligned it can cause a number of issues, including
Premature tyre wear (check out our page on how to check if your tyres are worn!)
Poor control of the vehicle
The vehicle pulling to one side
Fixing this issue means you need to see less of our mobile tyre mechanics - as even new tyres will become worn prematurely if the wheels remain misaligned. Therefore, we offer a mobile wheel alignment service throughout the North West, so we can make sure the new tyres you get from YourNewTyres last for as long as possible!

How does wheel alignment work?
The typical way our mobile wheel alignment team bring wheels back to the manufacturer settings is by adjusting the angles of the wheel by changing the angle of small components. This isn't just for car wheels either - it's also the case for vans, 4x4s, HGVs and much more.
A key aspect of wheel alignment is called 'toe angle'. Every vehicle is manufactured with designated toe angles, but a little knock on the wheel can bump the wheel away from this angle and lead to wheel misalignment.
One way to visualise toe angle is to picture your vehicle from a birds'-eye view. If each tyre was exactly parallel to the centre of your vehicle, then this would be called either 'neutral toe' or 'zero toe'. If they faced outwards, like a duck's feet, this would be called 'toe out' or 'negative toe', and if they faced inwards, this would be 'positive toe' or 'toe in'.
YourNewTyres can help with all your wheel alignment needs in the North West. We will bring your wheels back to their manufacturer alignment, which may be negative, positive or neutral toe, protecting your vehicle now and in the future.
What are the benefits of wheel alignment?
At YourNewTyres we have the answer.
Reduced wear and tear on your tyres
Reduced wear and tear on your steering column and other vehicle components
A longer life cycle for tyres
Improved fuel economy
Improved handling

Saving you money on fuel and replacement tyres!
If your tyres are significantly misaligned, the handling of your vehicle can be substantially damaged, and you will notice the improvements to your drive the moment you get behind the wheel. In other instances, the effect of wheel alignment is more subtle, but it results in long-term improvements to your vehicle, your safety, and the cost of running the vehicle.
How can I tell if I need a mobile wheel alignment?
It may be that a professional has informed you that your wheels need to be realigned, or perhaps even just a passerby! One of the key indicators of a wheel alignment issue is that the shoulders of your tyre - i.e. the outer or inner sections of the tyre, rather than the middle - appear to be becoming worn. A gradual increase in fuel consumption also suggests the potential of wheel misalignment, or perhaps the vehicle seems to struggle to stay in a straight line. Whenever you notice a problem with your vehicle, a stitch in time saves nine! Get the issue fixed immediately and you'll save yourself a lot of money in the future.
How is wheel alignment corrected?
There aren't many companies that can offer mobile wheel alignment throughout the North West, but our 24-hour tyre fitters have all the required equipment in our vans, so we can check and repair the alignment of your wheels wherever you are! You don't need to come to a garage with YourNewTyres - we will come to you!
With the use of laser alignment tools, we check your wheels precisely and compare them to the wheel alignment specified by your manufacturer. We then advise you of any work we feel is necessary, and if you're happy with what we've told you, we then get to work fixing your vehicle.
Underneath your vehicle, there are a number of wheel adjustment points. Our specialists simply alter these adjustment points until your wheel is pointing where it's supposed to!
If you're using us for non-emergency tyre repairs, don't forget to ask our tyre fitters to check your wheel alignment before they arrive at the job! This ensures we have enough time to complete the job within our schedule.
